Is this a remake or a port?
A full remake. The original is 2006's The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC. The visuals are 3D, combat is a real-time and turn-based hybrid, and voice acting expanded from battle-only lines to the whole script. Chapter structure and side quests are close to 1:1.
Is the Switch 2 version a game key card?
No. GungHo confirmed the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition uses a standard game card, and that card also runs in a Switch 1 at Switch 1 resolution and frame rate. Switch 1 owners can upgrade for a $4.99 Upgrade Pack.
How much does it cost?
Standard edition $59.99, Nintendo Switch 2 Edition $64.99, Digital Deluxe $79.99, Season Pass $24.99, Switch 2 Upgrade Pack $4.99. The $274.99 Golden Wings Edition had a preorder window that closed on March 8, 2026.

You can, but you will feel it. There is a story recap at the start, but three of four reviews named 'no 1st Chapter' as the biggest mark against this game. The free 1st Chapter demo carries its save into the full release.
